The largest systems are in the educational and government markets, including the Purdue University Library, a seven-floor library addition for the University of Illinois with 55 miles of shelving, and the mobile filing systems with 107 miles of files installed in the Veterans Administration Records Processing Center, St. Louis.
A joint venture of Spacesaver Corporation with Harnishfeger Engineers, Inc., Milwaukee, was awarded a contract for storage systems and project management for the new National Archives Building. Located in College Park, Maryland, Archives II houses the world's largest mobile storage system comprising 2 million cubic feet of mobile storage capacity compacted into an area of 691,572 square feet.
