"Storage Solved" in financial services organization The mortgage division of a large financial services organization, located in the Midwest, consolidated three mortgage records centers into one large facility. They acquired an existing warehouse facility and incorporated space efficient storage methods to accommodate nearly two million linear inches of files. Powered mobile systems were incorporated into a fire-rated vault, with limited security access, providing 485,000 linear inches of filing. The powered systems provide the weight-bearing capacity needed and ensure a safe work environment for the more than 40 file clerks working two shifts per day in the department. The powered system helped to minimize costly vault space and freed up space in the warehouse for the nearly 1.4 million linear inches of credit documents housed in stationary shelving. The massive open warehouse stores the bulk of the files. The facility was designed to maximize vertical space by incorporating three tiers of storage. Stationary shelving is used on the ground floor for file storage, while the top levels store archive record boxes.
