Hail to the Chiefs!

Everything is bigger in Texas and this year’s International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Tradeshow – the largest and most impactful law enforcement event of the year – held in Dallas, Texas from October 15-18 was no exception. Featuring approximately 16,000 attendees and 600 exhibitors, the show was buzzing with new ways to better serve and protect communities across the world.

What We Saw and Heard

Times are a changing and the public safety market is rolling along with them. Attendees indicated an increased number of new facilities will be constructed in the next two years, and turnkey storage solutions like those that Spacesaver provides, will be in high demand. One design element indicated as a ‘must have’ for attendees in their new facilities is a secure digital evidence storage solution, specifically one that combines physical security with the capacity to prevent digital attacks.

Continuing in the evidence storage vein, another point of emphasis for attendees was the need for an effective pass through/pass back storage system. For instances like temporary evidence storage involved in court cases, there’s high demand for a solution that allows secured and tracked holding until its use in a case or submission to long-term storage.

Rounding out our big three from the show is the ever-present need for better guns and ammo storage within stations. Facing a shortage of applicants and a struggle with retaining current officers, administrators are striving to bolster their forces by improving the systems and processes within their respective precincts.

What We Presented

In our booth, we featured our Personal Storage Lockers, Evidence Storage Lockers, and Day Use Lockers and a Universal™ Weapons Rack mounted on an ActivRAC high-density mobile storage system. Incorporating these solutions with digital assets including a slide show presentation (reach out to our team for information) that emphasized the practical application of each for viewers to see.
